Bio

Rightly named one of Canada’s most versatile and talented DJs, DJ Whitegold has been rocking crowds from young to old for over 10 years all across the continent. Possessing the dynamic mix of a hot stage presence and a strong sense of musicality, has also allowed Whitegold to become one of Canada’s most respected, and Southern Ontario’s most demanded, DJs.

The Beginning

Born and raised in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, a diverse and multi-cultural city, Whitegold grew up being exposed to a wide variety of music including: hip hop, R&B, reggae, soca, pop, rock, house and electro. While he has a passion for all music genres, Whitegold quickly became Kitchener’s most popular DJ for urban parties and the only DJ to call on for the best reggae and soca parties. With the trend in club music shifting towards house, electro and top 40, Whitegold has built a reputation of excellence in not only the urban music scene, but increasingly in these markets as well.

Having always remained on the cutting edge while performing, Whitegold has stayed ahead of the curve by becoming one of the first DJs to introduce video-mixing into his repertoire – with a collection of some of the hottest, and most rare, music videos in his arsenal.

The Who’s Who

Whitegold’s reputation has led to many prominent appearances in Toronto, New York, and London clubs, as well as many live-to-air broadcasts on Flow 93.5FM (Toronto), 91.5 The Beat (Kitchener), and 106.9 The X (London). He has had the opportunity to play alongside world famous DJs such as DJ Whoo Kid, Kid Capri, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Stone Love, and Canada’s very own Starting From Scratch.

DJ Whitegold has also worked with some of Canada’s most successful concert promoters and has been the official tour DJ for artists such as: Mobb Deep, Young Buck, Lloyd Banks, Lil Flip, Mario, 112, Choclair, Bounty Killer, Sean Paul, Baby Cham, and Buju Banton just to name a few. He has also performed alongside acclaimed artists including Kardinal Offishall, Nas, Ludacris, Fabolous, Ciara and Lady Gaga.

The Recognition

Proving that true talent does not go unrecognized, in 2003, DJ Whitegold’s peers and music industry professionals recognized him with a Flavor Pool nomination for Up & Coming DJ of the Year. He was also invited to become a member of the Juno awards screening committee for Best Rap Recording category from 2004 to 2008. In 2007, he saw even more industry recognition with two preliminary round nominations for Toronto and Soca DJ of the Year at the 2007 Stylus DJ Awards, as well as a 2009 nomination for the Central DJ of the Year award.

On May 31, 2010, DJ Whitegold moved to the next level in achievement as he won the 2010 Stylus Central DJ of the Year award and in 2011, DJ Whitegold continued to roll with that same unwavering momentum, as he deservedly won the 2011 Central DJ Of The Year trophy for the second consecutive year.  This monumental award is recognition of Whitegold’s excellence and dedication; placing him on top amongst Canada’s elite djs.

In 2011, DJ Whitegold was recruited by 91.5 The Beat to be one of four mixshow djs to take over the number one rated Saturday night show CLUB 9-1-5, which can be heard on 91.5 The Beat or online at www.915thebeat.com on Saturday nights from 9-11pm.  DJ Whitegold is currently booking tour dates across Canada, as well as his second European tour, which will happen in 2012.
