Friday Scratch and I were booked to dj at an all day Jamrock (reggae + soca) outdoor party in Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi is a little over an hour drive away from Dubai.  The party took place on the pool deck of a Hotel called Aloft (real dope spot).  In the end about 600 people partied and drank from 4-1:30 (we were supposed to go until 2)…great party UNTIL….rain lol.  Started raining + you have never seen a teardown so fast.  The Promoters rushed to tear down the speakers, lights + other equipment as we dj under a tarp while we disconnect.  It was the first Jamrock ever in Abu Dhabi + we were happy to hear that it was “the best party in 15 years in Abu Dhabi”.

Unfortunately the good luck hasn’t hit us yet. Bags didn’t show up this morning as they were supposed to…afternoon lunch was met with further disappointment as our Jamrock event scheduled for Thursday in Dubai was cancelled due to the closing of the venue for 3 days (out of respect for a peace conference close by…this is something that happens from time to time in Dubai…clubs can get closed at a moments notice, but is rare).

Since our bags hadn’t arrived we had to hit up The Dubia Mall to shop…pretty crazy place…every store and high-end designer you can imagine..lots of food, huge aquarium inside…take a look for yourself.

Took lots more pictures and video and will upload another time. On the bright side after we got back from shopping our bags arrived and we found out that Dj Cash money from Philly was in town playing is die The Atlantis Hotel (club called Indulge…I played at this same club back in November 2010..called Sanctuary at the time)…so off we went to enjoy the VIP treatment from Pioneer Dj. All I can say is Cash Money is a beast on the turntables…his scratching + skills are amazing…truly an honour to experience that. Tomorrow we are off to Abu Dhabi for a big outdoor jam rock party. Sold out event so can’t wait. Will check in asap and post more pics and let you know how things went.

Well got to Dubai safe and sound so am thankful for that. Was definitely the worst travel experience of my life so far. Started off on Tuesday with a 2+ hour delay on boarding the flight from Toronto to JFK in New York…they eventually cancelled the flight due to hydraulics problems (S/O American to making sure we didn’t fly on a defective plane). After scrambling to find another flight, we were lucky to find one that flew to LaGuardi in New York…Then we sat on the plane for over an hour waiting for fuel. Arrived at LaGuardi in New York…rushed to baggage to get our bags (and of course…they did not make the flight)…cab to JFK (S/O to the cab driver that got us there in record time). If it wasn’t for that we miss our connecting Emirates flight to Dubai. Was running in the airport like the scene from Home Alone (not fun).

If you ever have the chance to fly Emirates I highly recommend it…great flight, decent food, most comfortable I have ever been. And the service is amazing. After arriving in Dubai Wednesday night around 7pm the Emirates baggage services advised us that we should be getting our bags on Thursday afternoon. Checked in at the hotel and decided to head down to see Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) + get food. JBR is a great spot with every restaurant you can image located right beside the beach. Thursday’s we are doing up a Jamrock event in Dubai. Stay tuned to hear more about that and to see more pics from our trip. Here are some pics from JBR.
